Went back to the Nuese River the other day in howling South wind. After leaving one area due to the snottiness of the sound. Storms formed and moved over Carolina Beach this morning effectively shutting down fishing for the SENCFishing crew. Check out WECT's slide show for some of the pictures. I think it's funny how people are watching still on the beach as the water spouts moved over land. Another good photo as it moves over Carolina Beach Lake too. Today I got out on the water early and quickly made way to the five mile box cars. It's probably more accurately called the five mile now. Publicly known as AR372. It's a public reef about five miles off of Masonboro Island. North Carolina over time has sank box cars, barges, concrete pipe, and many other things in the area to create an artificial reef. Well another week, another week of wind. It's still blowing good this weekend so I haven't been out fishing.Suzanne and I took the boat out today with the hounds though and ran to New River and Back. Word on the water is that the flounder have moved on in. I got in the water just last week searching for them and found that they were scarce on the near shore wrecks. Lots of sea mullets aka whiting, virginia mullet are being caught off the end of Kure pier. Night is really paying off.
